Ian MacDonald
b. 1960
Ian McDonald is a British science fiction writer known for his themes of nanotechnology and the influence of the rapid rise of technology on developing nations. His writing is often set in non-Western or developing countries and incorporates issues facing them, such as the AIDS crisis in Africa. He has been nominated for both Hugo and Nebula awards, and his novel King of Morning, Queen of Day won the Phillip K Dick award for Best Collection.
