Richard Morgan

b. 1965
Richard K. Morgan is a British science fiction novelist best known for his Takeshi Kovacs cyberpunk detective series. After university, Morgan travelled as an English language teacher and began writing short stories, articles and even a screenplay. During this time, he also wrote Altered Carbon which won the 2003 Philip K Dick Award. Morgan sold the story to Hollywood, and the proceeds allowed him to become a full-time writer. In 2008, he won the Arthur C Clarke Award for his novel Black Man/ Thirteen. In addition to his science fiction novels, Morgan has also published graphic novels and is working on a fantasy trilogy.
